NORTHSTATE, Calif. — The Northern California chapter of the Red Cross is celebrating its nearly 125 volunteers this month, hosting a series of events in Chico, Sacramento and Scotia.
The events come just in time for the 80th annual American Red Cross Month. The tradition began in the 1940s when President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued the first proclamation.
About two dozen volunteers attended an event Thursday in Chico. Organizers say more volunteers would have been in attendance but that recent flooding has kept them busy.
